Honeybees normally start a colony in trees either exposed on a branch or in a hollow of a tree. You may also see a large clump of bees hanging on a tree branch, park bench, fence post, or even on a building. This is known as a swarm. Also honeybees will create their colonies in buildings, under sheds, in soffits, barbecue grills, and many other empty spaces.
